Join us to celebrate the stories of women this International Women's Day at the Ulster Folk Museum! 

Discover the vital roles women have played in shaping society – from hardworking mothers and skilled artisans to pioneers in politics and activism. Explore the lives of women who have connections to our exhibit buildings through guided tours with expert curators. Have a go making your own botanical cyanotype print to take home! Watch street theatre on the Suffragette movement and see demonstrations of women's work in rural life. Enjoy storytelling sessions and traditional music in McCusker's Pub, celebrating the incredible female musicians of our local scene.

  • Guided tours with our Senior Curator of History at 12:00 & 14:00 
  • Storytelling sessions looking at 'Women in Folklore' with Vicky McFarland from 11:00 to 16:00 
  • Cyanotype Sessions with Julia Healey (10:00 to 13:00 & 14:00 to 17:00) 
  • Suffragette Street Theatre on Tea Lane (11:00, 13:00 & 15:00) 
  • Trad Music Sessions in McCusker's (12:00 to 16:00) 
  • Quilting & Rag Rug demos with Hannah Ferguson (all day) 
  • Women at work archive footage in the Picture House (all day)
