Are you a fan of creepy crawlies? Come along to our torchlight bug hunt with an insect expert at Ulster Folk Museum!
Join Joshua Clarke, conservation officer and insect expert, for a guided torchlight walk around the Ulster Folk Museum. This bug hunt will focus on Harvestman (also known as Opiliones) - a taxonomic group related to spiders!
Learn about these mysterious creatures and the behaviour tactics they use to avoid becoming prey. This evening walk will also explore how non-native species have become established under-the-radar.
Keep your eyes peeled for other nocturnal invertebrates on this torchlight bug hunt and learn all about ecology and biodiversity on the way!
What to know about the Bug Hunt;
- This is an evening event taking place from 18:30 to 20:30 on Thursday 11th April.
- For ages 12+, with under 16s to be accompanied by an adult.
- This is an outdoor walking event taking place in the evening, so please dress for the weather! Some routes will be muddy/slippy so walking boots are advised.
- This bug hunt is only suitable for those able to walk off road.
- Some torches will be available to use, however please bring a head torch and wear high where possible.
