Foraging in Spring
Spring is a time of new growth and new life, as the world blooms into green around us. Join Clare McQuillan as she tells us which plants are worth feasting on!
Through our foraging series of events we hope to help reconnect people with what grows around them and provide an opportunity for a hands-on experience in the natural world.
Get InvolvedThe lives captured in the buildings, domestic practices, crafts, fields and verdant hedgerows of the Folk Museum were ones more reliant on, and at the mercy of, nature.
Through our foraging series of events we hope to help reconnect people with what grows around them and provide an opportunity for a hands-on experience in the natural world. They will learn about what grows wild in Ulster and reawaken knowledge of the land lost over recent generations.
The events also allow people to experience the vast natural resources of the site through a new lens and enjoy a communal meal in one of our beautiful exhibit buildings.
Clare is a wild food gatherer, curious cook and accidental foraging guide in Belfast. Through her small business, Feasting on Weeds, she has been helping others connect with wild ingredients since 2018. Clare is passionate about the local, seasonal and unusual food that can discovered on foot and is endlessly inspired by the hedgerows, shores and parks of our lush land.
