Country Skills Day
Date
Saturday 27th April
Time
10:00 to 17:00
Come along to Country Skills Day on Saturday 27th April as we celebrate and honour local heritage skills and show why they're still important today.
Celebrating and preserving everyday skills, customs and traditions passed down over many generations in Ulster is what we do at the Ulster Folk Museum. As part of this, we have a working farm on our rural site where heritage country skills are practised and demonstrated daily.
Watch how horseshoes are made at Lisrace Forge and see shoeing in action with farriers applying horseshoes to horses using traditional methods. Our working sheep dogs will be out in the fields where you can watch demonstrations of heritage ploughing techniques. Have a go at rope making with straw and make sure to say hello to all of our farm animals before you go!
