Celebrate the Autumn Equinox with an evening screening of a specially commissioned archive film alongside a live score from Róis on Saturday 21st September.

Watch this one-off screening in our authentic 1900s Picture House - expect astrological visuals, standing stones, scenes of the abundance of nature and harvests past, woven together to explore the richness of this special time of year.

The Autumn equinox marks the end of summer and the beginning of Autumn. It's the day when the sun illuminates the northern and southern hemispheres of the earth equally. In Ireland it is a date steeped in rituals, traditions and folklore spanning thousands of years; from the alignment of Neolithic structures to the sun, the pagan festival of Mabon, to harvest practices and traditions.

We’re thrilled to welcome Róis, commissioned to compose a live score for the film. Róis is an Irish composer, multi-instrumentalist and performer whose songs explore diverse modes of expression; forging a blend of folk and haunting Sean-nós with electronic soundscapes, jazz harmony and extended vocal techniques.
