How to book

  2. Wait for your booking confirmation to come through. Your booking is not confirmed until you hear back from us. It may take a few working days to review and respond.

The Ulster Folk Museum is open Tuesday – Friday 

10am – 4pm and Saturday & Sunday 11am – 4pm

We strongly recommend pre-booking your group visit. 

Entry to our museum is subject to availability. Pre-booking will secure your admission and enable us to provide additional important information for your visit.

All you have to do is fill out the enquiry form here (or if you prefer to download and fill out, download the enquiry form here and email it to [email protected] with 'Ulster Folk Museum Group Booking' in the subject line).

It may take a few working days to review and respond. Bookings are not confirmed until the availability is checked and a booking confirmation is received in writing.

Subject to availability, we offer guided tours of the museum with a visitor guide. This is charged at £120 for a group of up to 20 people. For larger groups, additional guides will be required.

We have a variety of craft demonstrators showing their skills each day at the Folk Museum.

We estimate that most of our visitors will tour the museum site anywhere between 2 to 3 hours. There is no time limit to your visit and you can enjoy the exhibit buildings - and their residents - as well as the rural 'Hill' and 'Wood' areas at your leisure.

If you wish to visit both museums on the same day, please note this in 'additional details' on the form. Three hours is recommended for Ulster Folk Museum and two hours is recommended for Ulster Transport Museum.

We can accommodate large groups but occasionally, will have to stagger entry to ensure the best experience. We can discuss this with you when your group booking form is received.

  • Child: £7.00
  • Senior: £9.00
  • Student: £9.00 

Groups of 15+ will receive a 10% booking discount. Payment must be processed as one transaction to avail of the discount.

Please note the following ticket types are free of charge:

  • Child under 5 
  • Accessibility (please see information under 'Booking and Arrival' here)
  • Carer (when accompanying an individual with access needs) 

On event days, there can be variations in cost. We will inform you of this when we receive your form and review your enquiry.

No, all visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. In a group scenario, adult-to-child supervision ratios apply. Please contact the museum for details. 

When you get here, please report to the ticket kiosk located in the main Folk Museum car park, where payment can be processed if required and orientation, maps and further information can be provided.

Catering

Ballycultra Tearoom is open during museum hours and offers hot and cold food and refreshments.

It is possible to book catering through our catering partner, Craft Event Co. If you note on your booking form that catering is required, we can pass on contact details and a full menu.

Food and drink cannot be consumed within our exhibition buildings and can only be consumed in designated areas. 

You can bring a picnic to enjoy at one of our outdoor picnic benches. Barbeques are not permitted.

Facilities and accessibility information

Yes, we have a free car park for all visitors. The car park opens at 10am and closes at 6pm. Overflow parking is available in our lower car park as well. 

We currently do not have any e-charging stations for electric cars (EV) in the Folk Museum car parks. However, there are two charging stations down at the Ulster Transport Museum.

We also have three coach bay spaces. If you will be travelling by coach, please indicate this on your booking form so we can ensure a space is available. It is also possible to access the Ulster Folk Museum via bus and train services, however, you should be aware there is a 15-minute walk to the Folk Museum from public transport stops and it's all uphill.

If you are visiting with a larger group and require storage for bags etc., we would recommend noting on your booking form that a room is required. Where available, we will accommodate.

Please note that food and drink cannot be consumed within our exhibition buildings and can only be consumed in designated areas. 

Adjustments to bookings should be received no later than 48 hours prior to your booking commencement.

Please note, we operate a no-refund policy.
